Mark N. Pera

Candidate for U.S. Representative, 3rd District

Hi, my name is Mark Pera. I'm a Democrat, a prosecutor with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, President of the Lyons Township High School Board of Education and a candidate for the U.S. Congress in Illinois' 3rd Congressional District. To learn about our campaign, please visit PERA08.com

I'd like to tell you why I'm running for office. In 2006, Democrats won control of Congress with a pledge to end the war in Iraq, but Dan Lipinski and others continue to support President George Bush. It's time for Congress to end this war: To bring our troops home within a year and to cap funding to make sure that happens.

The residents of this district want real change and real leadership from Congress and deserve no less. Right now they have a Congressman who is out of touch and has, over the last three years, supported President Bush on nearly every issue that is important to Democratic voters, including the environment, stem cell research, energy policy, and choice.

More than anything else, voters are tired of politicians in Washington D.C. who are beholden to special interests and they are fed up with the nepotism and corruption that we see from the Lipinskis and the Strogers of Cook County. They want honest, open leadership from a mainstream Democrat, like myself, to represent their interests in Washington D.C. I hope you take time to visit PERA08.com , decide to volunteer and join us in our effort to realize change and vote for me — Mark Pera — on Feb. 5."
