Early Voting
Illinois voters can cast their ballots before Election Day at designated
locations without having to provide a reason or excuse.
Casting your ballot before Election Day makes voting more convenient, especially
for the elderly and voters with busy schedules.
No more excuses
Voters do not need to provide an excuse or reason why they cannot make it to the polls on Election Day. You need only to fill
out an application at the early voting site.
Bring Photo ID
State law requires early voters to display valid identification
to an election official before receiving a ballot to vote early. Valid forms of ID include: a current driver’s license, state-issued ID card or another government-issued ID with a photograph.
Voting Equipment
Early Voting will be conducted on touch screens that store every ballot style in
the county, permitting any voter in suburban Cook to vote at any location.
Ballot secrecy
Your ballot will remain secret and securely stored.
Early Voting records
The names of the early voters are available to the public and are updated each day during early voting. Please call (312) 603-0900 for early voting information.
In-person voting only
Voters who participate in Early Voting must vote in person. Voters who cannot make it to their polling place on Election Day and can provide a valid reason or excuse under the law may vote absentee by mail or in person. Laws governing absentee voting have not changed as a result of Early Voting.
